G.I. Joe: The Rise of Cobra was the frontrunner of what was released on DVD and Blu-ray on October 3rd. G.I. Joe is an elite military organization that's made up of only the fastest, strongest, and most capable soldiers around that'll do whatever is necessary to keep the world safe. At the same time, James McCullen has developed a nanotechnology-based warhead capable of destroying anything it comes in contact with. McCullen has plans to use the warheads to develop an army of super soldiers and bring about a new world order. That is unless the G.I. Joe team can step in and stop him. From what I'm reading, it looks like the two disc set only includes two special features (two documentaries; one on special effects and a making of) and a digital copy. That's a bit disappointing considering how big the movie was over the summer. I actually managed to see this while it was in theaters and loved it. If you enjoyed the animated series from 1985, then I think it's safe to say that you'll enjoy this. It felt like a live-action extended episode. One of the most entertaining films of the summer. I rated it an 8.5/10. Also released on DVD yesterday was G.I. Joe: Resolute, which was a fantastic new animated version of the franchise. It was more adult oriented littered with blood, swearing, and even them killing off main characters. Featuring new character designs and fluid animation, Resolute is well worth a look if you like G.I. Joe. It's worth seeing for the Snake Eyes/Storm Shadow sequences and Cobra Commander actually being a ruthless villain alone.
