After VHS and DVD, Blu-ray discs are the latest playback format set to take over our living rooms.

Apple's new iMac all-in-one desktops impressed us, especially the massive 27-inch model we reviewed this week. But we're left wondering what happened to the rumored Blu-ray drive option. Playing HD optical disc content on that big 2,560x1,440 screen seems like a no-brainer, so we set out to see if we could successfully hook up an external Blu-ray drive.

Once upon a time, Hollywood studios were all about risk, and challenging themselves to do their very best. Never perhaps was this more true than with Walt Disney's efforts to produce Pinocchio, as the 70th Anniversary Platinum Edition makes clear. Now available for a limited time, this edition includes both the two-disc Blu-ray version and a digitally restored standard DVD.

Although Blu-ray Disc player and Disc sales have been on a steady upward pace since the end of the Blu-ray/HD-DVD format war, growth has not been as robust as the previous DVD growth timeline.

Ice Age: Dawn of the Dinosaurs is available this week as a DVD, Blu-Ray and DVD 2-Pack with The Scrat.
