While everyone's still trying to replace their DVD player with Blu-ray and their standard def TVs with HDTVs, the industry already is worrying about the market for UHD — Ultra-High Definition.

 

Now that leaks are saying the reimagined Wii coming up in Q3 2010--which is just a blink away--will likely sport a Blu-ray drive, I'm at a loss. Do I toss out my current Nintendo console? What good is my standalone Blu-ray player then? Well, the first piece of good news, if it's not bogus, is that Nintendo will be offering trade-in deals on the original consoles.

Do you want a blu-ray player? Think again. Do you really need a blu-ray player? You can have some reasons below to look before you leap.

The recordings were part of the deal between Jackson and concert promotion company AEG Live, which included a plan to produce a CD, DVD and Blu-ray of what Jackson had billed his "final performance" tour, titled This Is It.

Get ready to own your very own copy of 9… the post-apocalyptic CGI spectacle that wowed theater-goers earlier this year. The film will be released on December 29, 2009, a day that’s shaping up to be one hell of a DVD release day.

The film will come in standard DVD and Blu-Ray version, but details are sketchy beyond that. I suspect there will be a single-disc barebones edition and a two-disc special edition in standard formats, while there will be a single-disc Blu-Ray version with all the bells and whistles.
